Blurred Water

This may not be PC in a photographic sense, but it seems to me that this technique is overdone. I hardly ever see a photograph of moving water, be it river or seashore, without the slow shutter blur effect. Am I the only one who still likes to see water as it looks to my eye in real life? I like to see the droplets and splashes frozen in time, and nobody ever seems to do that any more.

Anyway, just a rant because I'm sitting here bored.

Your not looking very hard. There are plenty examples of both.

You're not alone, there are plenty out there.
I like the silky effect ND filters and long exposures can have on water falls and rapids. But sometime I also like the stop action of a fast shutter speed where you can see individual drops and splashing in a breaking wave. I guess it all depends on the picture or scenery.

Your just looking at photos in the wrong genre.

For landscapes, I agree that it's nice to see both the frozen water and the soft blurred water, both make for an interesting photo.

I did just remember this vacation snapshot. No blurred water here.

Like others have said, there is room for both!

I'd suggest you worry less about what others have done and are doing, and get out and develop your own skills/techniques and find your own "style" and let your "vision" be seen!

Apparently so. Because it looks pretty horrible usually when it's not done like that. I don't think I've seen a good one where it's not a longer shutter unless it's something specific like wildlife interacting with the water.
