I was fortunate to meet up with another POTN member, Cucamonga Al at Joshua Tree Natl Park yesterday. The weather was very windy and stormy and Al was the perfect guide for someone like myself who has never been to the Park before.

Here are a couple of shots where I liked how the sun was playing off the rocks amongst the dark, cloudy sky.

#3 is my pick although all are good because of the composition and cloud set.

Thanks very much. Here is one more that I like. We shot several images during sunrise too but maybe I'll post them as another topic.

Number three and the four are my favourites.
You've made me look at scopes like this differently, they look amazing!

Beautiful quality. The rocks look almost 3-D.

Don't post very much but number three is just awesome. What kind of PP did you use.

Congrats on the shots

One day I was walking on the street and somebody handed me a camera. I looked at them and said, "This is not a Canon, what do I look like? A charity case?" So I took it, and THREW IT ON THE GROUND!

Thanks again. I really liked the colors in the rocks which I tried to bring out.

The third one is pretty good. Nr.1 and 2 don't really have a strong subject so the eye just moves around the frame. The forth is OK, but has some disturbing elements in the lower left corner. Nr. 5 is pretty nice, the path gives the image some nice depth (same as the trees create depth in nr. 3). The sky is pretty amazing in all of them.

Thanks for your comments. I know a couple of shots don't have a strong subject but I liked the colors and textures and thought that was subject enough.

I hope no one minds but here are two more shots taken a bit later in the morning. There was some blue sky poking through here and there at this point in time.
