I've been complaining a lot lately (see the apple thread below). So my apologies. I'm usually quite positive.

Anyway, I don't like the mobile web. Not even a little. I like the regular web on my phone.

I realize that most websites give a choice, somewhere on their home page, to go to the full site, but I wish it was the other way around (real web first).

What's your opinion, and what do you think the future holds?

I'm the same way about apps for web pages. eBay, cl, amazon. I like the Internet.

And you?

Thank you. bw!

Mobile website design is poor.

Even on the iPad, it seems even a good design alternate to the full website is harder to use.

In the case of CBS, the landscape site has less content than the portrait. In the same app.

I suspect redesigning for a device is not well thought out.

Feels more like someone who had to do a small screen site for the platforms of five years ago ran out of projects.

Notable exception is NPR, IMO, right up until video where they still use Flash.

No, I don't use or like it. It's got a long way to go before its useable.

My advice then would be not to use the mobile web. Problem solved.

I have only come across a very few sites that work well in the mobile version. I usually look for the "full site" link and head there. Every once in a while, I just don't care enough to look and tinker through the mobile version. Searching on mobile sites is non-existent or crappy at best.
