I like the railroad tracks and the seats with the snow.
Interesting composition.
When you look at the best photos on this forum, you quickly see that they
bring something else other than just a rendition of a scene, they look like art
in a way.
Keep at it, keep shooting and keep posting, its the only way to get better.
Good luck!!

actually no, they were just telling me that all of my photos were crap and I should find another hobby.

I appreciate what you said though, at least its positive criticism

Edit:

so when your saying work on my composition, you are basically saying that I need to make it more obvious what I'm trying to Capture in the photograph right ?

Well composition is a tricky subject. I had a whole class dedicated to JUST composition when I was in film school.

There's a lot of information out there on the net to help you, but basically I'd say try to isolate the subject you're trying to show off and present it in a way the viewer would want to stay and look at your photo.

Example of this can be seen in your rail road photo. You have strong leading lines in the shot, repeating patterns, both which help to convey an important aspect of composition - depth.

You can spend hundreds on Light Room to boost color or you can spend less than 40 bucks on Velvia Vision photoshop plug in. I never once used LR to adjust color

Actually, rather than Lightroom 3 as has been suggested, try the Lightroom 4 beta. It has many improvements even from 3, which I have, and it's free to use until the release of the fully tested software (March/April, I think). That way, you can decide whether it's worth spending the money. I love Lightroom, but I dont have PS5. I do use Elements for things I cant do in Lightroom (e.g. panoramas, smart fill). I know I'm missing out on some things in PS, but I find that Lightroom (especially the beta version) gives me all I want. Enjoy

I am new to photography, but i recently bought a Canon Rebel XSi camera and I am just starting to use it. here are a few pictures i thought i would share. I posted them up on another board but everyone was jerks to me so lets see what happens here

At the other forum, they complained about my Watermark on the images. Hopefully you guys dont care about that....

If you're going to put stuff out there for people to review, be prepared for criticism one way or the other...welcome to the real world. I happen to agree with MrGreen...other than the first bridge shot that may have some potential, the others just aren't very special from a photographic standpoint. If you're only looking for criticism that you agree with, its probably best not to ask for feedback in the first place. But if you can handle negative feedback and use it as something to learn from, you'll be all the better for it. This isn't grade school where "everyone's a winner". ;)

Some advice: before jumping onto the software/plug-in bandwagon, read up and learn the basics of exposure and composition. A bad picture is a bad picture...no amount of software or processing can fix an image that wasn't "right" to begin with. Keep practicing, and post up what you feel is one of your better shots and take it from there...
