Here are a few shots from this weekend that I think worked out okay.

First off, I got a cheapo macro rail this weekend, so I can do a little better at satisfying my lust for highly detailed flower shots. This is a 44-shot stack of a flower from the grocery store. Lighting is from a 36" softbox above camera right.

Here's another using the same rail, although this one is only 6 shots (much shallower plane).

The beauty of living in Los Angeles is that we get hoverflies year round:

This isn't the greatest shot in the world, but I still thought it was cool. I like the concept of simultaneously swimming in two completely distinct bodies of water.

Here is a strange critter I found in the yard. Any ideas regarding the ID?

Thanks a lot for the comments folks. Sorry about that second link being broken. I switched the picture on Flickr, because I noticed an issue with it that I wanted to correct in GIMP. I think it should be visible now.

Thanks for the partial ID, Mighella. I put that photo on an identification group on Flickr, and someone told me it is a Glassy-winged Sharpshooter (Homalodisca vitripennis).
