I've gone Mac crazy..

So my first purchase was a 27" Imac, then a mac book pro and now a mac book air... got ipods and iphones
have I gone crazy haha

Yeah I've gone from the older iMac then got a 15in 06MBP then iPhone 3G then 3GS then IPad the iPhone 4 then 27in iMac then my latest purchase a new 15in MBP

I guess you can call me a fanboy

Oh forgot to mention I've owned every generation of iPhones and have all kinds of iPods. Its the Apple revolution lol

...I live alone. But to be fair I don't use 2 of the towers, 1 of the laptops or 2 of the iphones. I just don't throw stuff away.

Wow, I'd rather have a couple PCs and a new car for that kind of money.

Nope, just thinner. Air starts at $999. Macbook Pro starts at $1199.

Compared to what you get, it is more expensive (or more limiting depending on how you look at it).

The $999 macbook air is basically a netbook with an 11" screen, a 1.6ghz CPU, 2GB of RAM and a 64GB flash card instead of a HD.

The $1199 macbook pro has a dual core 2.4ghz, 4GB of RAM, 500GB hard drive, 13" screen and a DVDR drive.

Even if you buy the top end $1599 air, you'd have to use an external DVD drive and hard drive and the processor is much slower.

SSD's are better and faster than normal hard drives. I haven't put a disk into my macbook pro in 3 years. So no, you don't NEED to buy a DVD drive or another hard drive. But yes, the process power of an air pales in comparison with the macbook pro.

ThatTeenPhotographer - If you want something light and do basic tasks, get an air. If you want a computer you can do anything with, get a macbook pro.

Are they SSD? I wonder why Apple calls them "flash drives" while they use the term SSD in all their other products.

I looked at the Macbook Air, just couldn't justify it. The solid state hard drive is pretty cool, amazingly light weight...but I don't think it's versatile enough for what I intend to use a laptop for.

So far we're up to a 21.5" iMac, 13" MacBook Pro, iPad2, iPhone4 and iPhone 3GS...plus the iPods we never use anymore...and a Toshiba Windows7 laptop that I hate.
