JOSHUA TREE N.P.

Over the weekend went shooting with a friend (NavyDoc on P.O.T.N.) and fought with 40 mph + winds that were blowing the clouds all over the place. The first shot is a 30 sec exposure at f16 with hardly any post processing, shot almost pre-dawn. The second shot is probably a little more "understandable" since it was taken about 2 hours after the first. Comments always appreciated.

Very nice Al. I'm sure you noticed the rock "face" on the left of your second image.

Really like #2. The 'face' is pretty cool.

Joshua Tree N.P. has so many faces in the rocks, that I believe one could photograph there for a lifetime and still not see them all. Thanks for joining me for a great day of shooting.

You guy's sure caught fantastic light to shoot in! The drama in the clouds is great. I like the second one better, but I suggest you address the noise in the clouds. If you applied sharpening to the entire image remove it from the clouds and it may fix it.

Thanks for the tip, Jon, but believe it or not, I don't use the sharpening tool. I don't know how that is happening but I will go back into the history and see exactly what might have caused it. Thanks again. By the way, your web site is awesome.

Thanks for taking your time to look and comment. Both shots are HDR. The first totalling 90 secs of exposure @ f16, and the second must shorter.

Do you use a program which allows masking in other files? If you mask in the -2 EV original exposure over the sky it should look great.
