In the bag? On the belt with cases for lens, cards and etc ?
Do you use backpacks / shoulder bags / rolling cases / harnesses ?

Currently I use a backpack with camera around my neck. Additional lenses in my bag, but it is a little inconvenient to completely remove the bag from back and change lenses. On the other hand is inconvenient to leave a bag somewhere on the side and then go for another lens.

Please share setup that is most comfortable and useful for you ?

For the "getting ready" shots, I carry two cameras on me with a 35L and 85L plus each camera has a 580EX. The rest of my gear stays in the car or is stashed elsewhere.

I use a rolling Lowepro bag to hold all my other gear at the church or reception. I have a Thinktank belt system but don't really use it much.

I also have two other bags of lights and other gear that goes into the reception with me.

Before I leave the house, this is what I do in terms of just cameras, lenses, and speedlights.

  1. Put 3 lenses, usually the 24L, 50L, and 85L with hood in the ready position and with both caps off inside my Think Tank Lens Changer 3.
  2. Put everything else inside the rolling luggage case.
  3. Aside from this, I have a bigger case that holds my strobes, stands, umbrellas, tripod, monopod, etc. Heavy like a mofo...
When I get to where I need to get to, which is usually at a location where the bride is getting ready, I will take out both my cameras from the rolling luggage case, put lenses on each, typically the 24L and 50L, put 580EXII on each. This leaves 2 slots open in the Lens Changer 3. I'll fill up at least one with another lens, perhaps the 100 macro if the rings are there, or maybe the 70-200 f2.8 IS MKII if I feel that I need a longer range.

I pretty much repeat this for the ceremony and reception. I leave the rolling luggage bag inside the trunk or by the DJ, etc.

One very large Pelican 1624. I love it. The wheels and handle make it manageble when I work alone, but it's best with an assistant who can help getting it up and down steps as well as keep an eye on it while I'm off shooting.

The only gear I carry on my person is the gear I'm using and spare memory. For a ceremony, I'm usually wearing two cameras, and the rest of the day a single camera.

Additional lenses are always ready to go and in an open bag that I keep within a distance that I can get to within 10 seconds..

Rolling case mostly managed by my assistant, I carry two bodies around all day. I also have light stand bags and such.

I have the 1650 and would tell anyone DO NOT get it. Just too big. You can get everything in it, but its too heavy once everything is inside....Dont make the same mistake it did. I hate it every time I load up. I personally think the 1560's are the best way to go. If you have a lot of gear get 2 of them. Those 1600 series case are heavy when loaded to capacity.

1510's are even better because you can carry them on any airplane. 1510's are airline approved. I'm going to leave my 1624 in my studio for storage and call it a learning mistake. Gonna pick up a 1510 at WPPI. Hate to sound like a Wuss but I's in good shape and can carry a lot. But the 1650 is heavy when loaded.

2 x Lowepro reporter bags
Bag 1 contains 5dm2 and a 7d both gripped + 70-200L f2.8 IS mk2 + 24-70L + 2x430exII
Bag 2 contains 50d and a 7d both gripped + 70-200L f4 + 17-55 + 50mm + 17-40L + 2x430exII
Both bags contain plenty of batteries for the bodies and eneloops for the flash.

Bag 2 stays in the car.

I take out my kit from Bag 1
I use a usa-tech duel harness with 5d and 7d strapped to me.
5d has the 24-70 & 7D has the 70-200, both bodies are gripped and have flashes mounted.

I then take out the 7D from Bag 2 and put that in Bag 1 along with a flash and the 50mm and 17-40 and wirless flash triggers.

Thats me loaded and ready to go.
Cameras strapped to my body at all times.
the reloaded bag 1 is on my shoulder and i will also carry 2 light stands.

First thing I do is place the light stands in the reception room ready with the wirless recievers

My bag stays with me at all times.
I carry memmory cards in my lowepro card holder which is strapped to my belt.

Sounds like alot of carrying about but to be honest it's not.
The bag is on the floor but by my side most of the time and my main bodies are strapped to either side of me.

At the end of the night and a day full of smiling I head to my car and sware I am dead LOL

Boda bag which is around my waist. Carries a few lenses and heaps of accessories.

Lowepro rolling bag which contains backup equipment etc.

Tripods in its own bag. Then another hand bag for my studio lights. Hoping to get a pelican case for my strobes soon.

Camera with black rapid strap.

Once I get there I carry two bodies/lenses on me and this bag (external link) around my shoulder. It's a very affordable alternative to shoot sacs. In it I usually have 2 more lenses, two speed-lights and extra batteries and CF cards. Works great.
