hi guys
covering a small weeding this friday at 6pm, outdoors, my concern is about the lighting, i don't think i would be able to use an umbrella or anything like that, so flash on camera is my only option, but i DO NOT want to harsh shadows in the pics... so my only option is a small diffuser ?

thanks for your tips

Hopefully you mean WEDDING, as I don't think there would be much interest in photos of weeding ;)

Maybe a difuser might come in handy here. Unless you bring an assistant and you have triggers you could let them hold your flash at different angles while you shoot.

I had this issue on a cousins wedding I did. I got really good results just pointing the flash straight up and bouncing off a piece of white cardboard wrapped around the head of the flash. As long the shot isn't too wide you should be ok.

Hire an assistant to hold your flash off camera on a monopod with a small softbox.

I have been thinking about this, sounds ok, just not sure about the room we might have to have an umbrella close by the altar for example... it would be visible by all means ....

Do you have flash triggers?

Cool! All you need is either an assistant or a stand that will accept that flash. :)

Not sure if your flash triggers are Pocketwizard Flex/Mini by any chance, but I'd rent them and stick a 580EXII and umbrella on a monopod with an assistant.

If you have a 580EXII, not a chance! The assistant can be pretty far back for that flash to light up an area and thus, won't get into the frame.

Speak for yourself.

I personally love weedings.

At my last weeding, I caught the ragweed thrown by the gardener. I guess that is why I always cry at weedings.

Enjoy! Lon
