awesome shots! What aperture are you using for the milky way shots. Just picked up a SY 24mm.
Also are you using a tilt shift effect for the ones that have stars that are blurred out at the top of the frame?
Thanks!

No doubt Mikey will answer for himself but im sure I read a post on another thread where he said he was taking shots at different focus distances from the same setup then blending in post for that effect. Whatever he does its pretty damn cool

Alright, I think it's time I contribute! Thanks to advice of some users including NCHANT, I decided to sell my 24-105L and pick one of these up instead. I haven't had the right weather conditions to do any serious astro work yet, but I did test it in the park yesterday. I used liveview to focus...I think this is something like f2..or maybe f2.8. I love the perspective it creates when shooting pets.

I like it so much that its now made it tricky to decide which gear to bring along to portrait sessions. I'd consider bringing it along for dog sessions, but manual focusing with dogs is NOT easy. The right amount of treats and this was possible. I could see using it for engagement session types, but I'm afraid of the perspective distortion. I just want to find more uses for it!

Nice shot! I replaced my focussing screen with one that is easier to focus when using wider than ƒ2.8, made a HUGE difference for focussing through the viewfinder!

Why are the majority of photos in this thread of night skies? Is there something about this lens especially for this purpose?
