Northern Harrier with Coot

You often see Northern Harriers swooping over the marshes and capturing small birds like sparrows, but they also prey on larger birds. Here is one that captured a Coot at the Viera Wetlands. Not much left but feathers......

wow coots can be pretty large for bird that size. I saw a bunch of coots saturday and none of the bigger raptors around were going after them. I missed the Osprey that got a fish before I got there, and the kites were after fish as well. If they wanted coots they would be spoiled for choice where I was.
