Truth is no one started photography as the best. We have all made our fare share of mistakes. I'm still making them. Please share your stories of disaster or blunders you've had while photographing something. Here is my story from this weekend:
Well I'm pretty good at portrait photography, but this weekend I did a wedding. A co-worker of mine asked if I could be the second shooter at a wedding he was going to do. He said the couple didn't have a lot of money and he was doing it for free. So I agreed. The wedding started at 11am, but I got there at 9am and took pictures of the set-up like a little busy bee. A very busy bee evidently!!! Because at 11am sharp as soon as the father and the bride went down the isle my 580 speedlite said "I'm done now. Good luck with your 24-105mm lens in the dark". So at first i thought it was the batteries.............nope! It had overheated and needed a rest. After I realized I was stuck like chuck I switched to my 50mm 1.8 and pumped up the ISO to 3200. Highest mine goes and shot for dear life. Fortunately I was the second shooter. Praise GOD!!!!!!!!!!!! I got the best pictures of the bride getting ready and at the reception.
Note to self: GET A SECOND FLASH IMMEDIATELY!!!!!!!!!!!
Here's some pics from the wedding that came out well: http://gerardpayne.com/?p=538![]()
