I chased this guy for several blocks til he found a tree he like and stayed for a while. This was the best I could do as lighting was awful and he was far away thus the tight crops. Thought I would share anyway.

cool shots. i have a headache just a second ago, the moment i saw the pileated woodpecker, it disappeared! :D

Woodpeckers are neat birds, but Janie chasing a Pileated probably should be an Olympic sport - :)
I like `em all, but the Downy is especially cute.
In case your interested, your Pileated is a she and was probably "shopping" trees and that's why you couldn't catch her any easier......(j/k about the shopping part) ;)
