I put some thought into this before seeking advice. I tried to weigh out the pros and cons of either kit; one-lens-for-all-my-purposes set-up of 24-105mm f/4L or a two-lenses set-up of Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8 non-VC with Canon 70-200mm f/4L. Basically, the price is relatively close of either kit. With the two-piece kit, I'll be missing IS in the lenses, but reach a broader range of focal lengths.

Just wanted some opinions on how to approach this "dilemma". My style of shooting includes mostly portraits, sports events including church basketball team and dance competitions, traveling (recently visited Ireland), and street photography (in the city that never sleeps!). My only other lenses are 18-55mm IS and a 50mm f/1.8 on a Canon 60D.

The 2 lens kit for the extra range on both ends.

On a crop... the 2 lens kit is much more versatile. Use a fast prime when the light is low.

You're signature lists the 24-105 in it. Do you have this already? When I first upgraded beyond the 18-55 and 55-250, I added the 24-105 first and it worked out well for me. Having the 2 kit lneses, I could go longer and wider when I needed but most of my shooting was in the 24-105 range. After that, I added the 30/1.4 and 85/1.8. The 85/1.8 would do portraits fine as well as indoor sports.

If you already have the 24-105, you will loose a lot selling it with it being so popular on the used market and since you have the wider covered by the 18-55. I would keep it and add the 85.1.8 or a 70-200/2.8 non IS from Canon or Sigma when you have more funding

Canon 7D/350D, Σ17-50/2.8 OS, 18-55IS, 24-105/4 L IS, Σ30/1.4 EX, 50/1.8, C50/1.4, 55-250IS, 60/2.8, 70-200/4 L IS, 85/1.8, 100/2.8 IS L, 135/2 L 580EX II, 430EX II * 2, 270EX II.

Thanks for the replies. I guess the main concern for me is the priority of reach or image stabilizer.

First, is Tamron AF going to be good enough indoors?

Second, if F4 is fast enough for indoors action shots you are after.
IS, no IS doesn't matter, you'll need at least 1/200 to freeze the action.
Based on my own expiriense 70-200 F4 is not indoors action zoom lens at all.
You'll need at least 2.8 tele for indoors actions.
