I love the pose! Personally, I'm not crazy about the selective coloring.

I love the pose and this is the first time I think I really dig the selective coloring. When I first looked at the picture I didn't even notice a freaking huge staircase behind them. All I saw was the obviously happy couple and a beautiful dress. Nice work.

I dont like the selective coloring. Even so, they look a little underexposed, and your watermark really hurts the image. It takes a long time to figure out a solid watermark, but I would REALLY focus on that. Prospective clients will get turned off very easily with it.

Even if you just change it to white text and make it a little smaller...

Also, note that neither of your clients' faces made it into this shot.

The good: You've framed them nicely with the staircase; the exposure is fairly close (it's underexposed, I'd say); It's a decent moment to capture.

The not-so-god: It's obviously subjective, but I find selective color a cheat for bringing out the subject in a photo. One should aim to do this in other ways (leading lines, light, etc.). I also wish more of their faces were showing. Fill-flash looks on-axis (on camera) and not only creates an ugly shadow (this one's not too bad actually) but tends to flatten the appearance of dimension in the image.

The lighting is not that great and I do like selective color. It is not working for this image. It is also too dead center for my taste.

Thanks for the replies. I do not do much selective color. I like this one and the bride loved it so I shared it

Nix the selective color. Also your background is cluttered on either side of the staircase - what aperture did you use?

selective coloring aside, this is a case of background being dark due to direct flash

enough said about the selective colouring, but i would have liked to have seen the brides face, perhaps her looking at you and him at her or vice versa or whatever... And as Bryan has said, does seem a little unerexposed. Its lacking POP or WOW factor, which i think you need if your gonna post just ONE photo.

Hope not to offend, just what I see.

Well I think the location could have been improved. The stairs fight for attention as the subject of this photo. Also the position and angle of the camera could have been improved. All I see is the teeth of the bride and the groom's head. It's not necessary to always include all of people in the people photo (you include their feet which makes the view more snapshoty in my opinion).

Thanks for everyones input. I know it could have been better. This was shot in a candle store that was open at the time with about 25 customers inside. I'm backed up against a display and held people from coming down the stairs. Total time to take this shot was less than a minute. We had to walk through the candle shop to get to the hall the candle company rents out.
