Not exactly sure where to post this question but I figured it was somewhat relevant to B&W photography, ha!
Anyways. I'm new at processing B&W film at home (even worse at math) and I'm a bit confused on how to handle storing and reusing my fixer. I currently have 1 Liter Ilford Rapid Fixer which instructs me to use 1+4 to make 2.5 liters.
I've been reading around and people have been recommending to only mix a "working solution." With that said, my film's tank is 500ml.
Soo,
500/(1+4) = 100ml parts of fixer + 400ml parts of water, right? I plan on reusing my fixer and if I go about this way, do I have to store this solution in a 500ml container or should I just go ahead and mix the concentrate to store in a 2.5 liter container?
That would mean:
2500/(1+4) = 500ml parts of fixer + 2 liters of water, correct? Since the fixer comes in a 1 liter container, it could very well make two 2.5 liter containers or one 5 liter container which is instructed at 1+9 dilution.
I'm just trying to wrap my head around this so I can store and reuse my fixer efficiently! Any advice would be awesome. I plan on processing 1 roll tonight and I'm pretty excited!
