50d magic lantern video

does the ML continously run off the card, or is it just used to load ML? if i want to record video, does it HAVE to record to the same card running ML, or can i get ML going, then put in a more sizeable card.
i have a 16GB CF, and i dont want to install ML on it. id rather have a second card for it. if i can get away with loading ML on a cheapo 1gb card, and then that pop in my 16gb for recording video, that would be perfect

The firmware extension needs to be on the card that's in the camera. If it isn't there, the camera can't use it.

i thought perhaps the FW would temporarily load onto the camera until the camera was turned off

Opening the card door actually turns the camera "off" just like using the "On/Off" switch does. So, BTW, does removing the lens or opening the battery compartment door (even without removing the battery).
