anyone done it? If so can you share files either just after or some before and afters? I'm considering it for a 7D... They're saying they've done a bunch, I can't find any documentation on it anywhere and I'd love to know what I'm getting BEFORE spending $450 for it....

And yes I've searched, I've found some good threads with Daniel Browning telling everyone how bad it is to remove the AA filter with the counter point being people showing M9 and MF images.... Not really a huge help in either case. I'd love to know how big of an issue moire is after the fact (but this depends on the MP in the sensor really, so only someone with a 7D done can answer that) and how much sharper it is (again probably camera specific)...

Perhaps you can consider whether your lenses and focus are good enough to actually exploit the increased resolution? Increasing the resolution also increases the sensitivity to camera shake and mirror slap, so unless you're using a tripod, this means you need to use shorter exposures.

I expect that some lenses will be good enough and that the focus accuracy may be good enough (sometimes) but why endanger your camera when the real benefit is marginal?

Several cameras and more glass than I will admit to.

my techniques and lenses are fine, I just want more resolution.

yes, did you miss the part in my OP where I specifically mention Daniel Browning (the post you're quoting) and having searched for old threads w/o finding anyone with REAL info? IE no one here has done it yet that I know of, I'm hoping this thread brings them out... The other threads have a bunch of people saying it won't work with no proof and a bunch of other people saying it will with links to M9 and MF images... Not many have any DSLR samples except for maxmax (the company that does it). They have some 5Dc samples which are OK and some D700 samples that are a lot better, but nothing from the 7D...

How will you deal with moire patterns that the anti aliasing filter prevents?

I would think that the gains wouldn't warrant the $450. Plus, you're going to have a hell of a time if you ever decide to sell.

the same way leica m9 users do? IE they don't have to the majority of the time because todays sensors have so many pixels that it's not as big of an issue anymore. But again, that's why I'm asking if anyone else has done it, I want to hear their experiences....

exactly, I sell gear used often, and I'm basically looking at this like it's $450 blown if I sell, if not more if there is a moire issue... If it's amazing, maybe I'd be able to recoupe some of the $450, but not all....

I'm also interested in this AA filter mod. I would like to see what a sensor with the pixel density of a 7D could do with it. Perhaps I should have it tested on a T2i or T3i first?
