So someone I follow on Twitter posted a link to a Seattle Craigslist where a bridezilla basically gets her panties in a bunch at the cost of a wedding photographer. I had written a rebuttal to a similar article 4.5 years ago, figured this one needed some attention too, wanted to pass it along, maybe you find it funny, maybe I made a spelling / grammar mistake you want to point out, maybe you want to share it... but here ya go:

Thanks for sharing. I find "every hour I’m shooting I can expect to spend one-half hour in the chair editing" way too low.

Here is another response.

Oh I didn't even see there was another thread! Sorry everyone.

Maybe that's a little low for you, I've made my workflow work for me over the last few years to really work out both keyboard and workflow shortcuts. I've also become a smarter shooter and long since stopped the "spray and pray" method of just holding the trigger

I will admit I need to work on taking less pictures. In fact it is one of my goals for this year. But still I think I will always expect to spend more editing time than shooting time. ;)

Some people love the edit part.. I personally don't - I'd rather shoot and present a final product as soon as possible. Editing time = eating away at profit margins. I'm very production based in that regards.

Thats my thought. We all know there are brides with this opinion. We all know that there are people that do not value photography, let alone wedding photography. The way everyone is bouncing over this somewhat confuses me.

Yes the post is probably designed to get attention. It has been on every wedding forum I have seen so far...

It's actually not the first time I've written about it - I think this time around though it's getting far more publicity due to Facebook and Twitter. I wrote this article 4.5 years ago: http://www.randomn3ss.com …e-a-wedding-photographer/ (external link)

Very similar subject matter, but barely anyone was using either services and mostly MySpace was used, which didn't integrate to blogs at all. The way we consume and share information now is unreal - the ability to read on the go with iPhone / iPad / iEtc is nuts...

It's not that far from Seattle to Las Vegas. Perhaps the CL poster can save a bunch of money on her wedding and just fly to Sin City where they do drive-thru weddings very cheaply. I think they even have album packages for $15 - $20 more...

I fail to see the issue here. The whiny bride in Seattle will probably be divorced within five years anyway and all her pictures will be moot...

So much emphasis is placed on quality wedding photography these days and most pictures languish in an album on a shelf somewhere. My wife and I have been married for almost 12 years and I don't think we've opened our wedding album or viewed the wedding video in all that time.
