Hi

I got one a month ago and not sure if it was there before. When the head is in the normal pointing forward and straight up theres no rattle. When you then press the button to twist it 90 degrees to either side and shake the flash the button rattles like its bits inside are loose. If you gently touch the button it stops.
Is this normal or a fault?
I don't have a second one to compare it to, so if anyone could have a look a theirs I would be grateful.

Thanks in advance.:)

I downloaded the service manual and the part that rattles is the lock lever.
when its in the normal position the lever locks into its location hole and when you press the button to twist the head it disengages from the hole to enable it to rotate, probably why it rattles about. But theres a spring behind that lever which I assume would put a bit of pressure onto it so not to rattle.
Doesn't sound good with a flagship flash when your out shooting and your gear rattles like its falling apart.
Going to go to my local shop to see if a new one does it.

I bought a 10 pack of 580EXIIs and have noticed a little bit of rattle also. If anyone is looking to pick up a new one I may be selling a few of these. 10 may have been a little bit of overkill. :D

Mine rattles too. I've had mine for over 4 years and never noticed it until just now. :(
