On the Sigma 50mm 1.4?

Debating if I should buy a new one instead of a used one. But at the same time there's a lot of the old finish sigma for sale. I can't tell the difference at all. Can somebody explain to me what that is? Thanks!

The new one is a smooth, matte plastic finish. The old is referred to as the "crinkle" finish, and it's not smooth plastic. It's rather hard to explain, but I've never had a problem with it. In reality, there's really no difference when using the lens.

Old was cheap looking, it's the one I had. New one - IMHO - looks much better.

The old finish showed marks easily and some people had the coating flake off after time, I never had this problem with my old 70-200 when I had one a few years ago, but it seemed to show every fingerprint and dust/dirt mark possible!.
The new finish is simply a 'normal' matt/silk plastic finish.

I personally prefer the new finish of my 30mm f/1.4.

I prefer the "new" finish too, but there really isn't that much of a difference.

Canon 7D, Sigma 10-20mm, Sigma 17-50mm OS, Sigma 70-200 OS, Sigma 50mm 1.4, Tokina 10-17mm, 430 EXII flash... and still learning!

The old one eventually flakes off

Photography is not defined by what gear you own.
