First of all, I'm not too sure if this is where this belongs. If not, please move it to where it belongs...
Anyway, I have been tossing around the idea of doing time lapse photography just for fun so I really don't wan to spend a small fortune on a Time Lapse capable DSLR and lenses. And I really don't want to do this with my Canons either. I was thinking more about getting a P & S that had this feature already built in it without having to add a hack to it. The time lapse feature absolutely has to come with it. I thought about looking at what Canon might have to offer in their P & S lines or maybe their G Series. I've heard so many nice things about these cameras they call Canon and thought this would be a good thing to look at.
Then I started thinking, "well, what if I wanted to use this outside and maybe catch some storm clouds". It would seriously have to be weatherproofed! No doubt!!!
I remembered Go Pro had some pretty sturdy cameras that could handle bad weather. I looked into it and they do have time lapse already built into them.
Ah Ha! I may have found what I'm looking for! So I go to their website (after about a year and a half from the last time I looked there) and discovered they now have an 11 MP model (Hero 2). Hmmmmmmm... I remembered reading that you don't necessarily have to have a high MP camera if you're doing Time Lapse videos. But I'm thinking that for $70 more I can have the newest bestest (<- I know, not a word) camera they make and I can set it to either 11MP, 8MP or 5MP. So no big deal there. It also does 1080 30FPS video as well in case I ever wanted to try that. (The original Hero was a 5MP camera also with the 1080 30FPS video if I recall).
So I think I'm sold on this Hero2 Motorsports edition (Motorsports so I can use the suction cup that comes with it and stick it to my truck during the storms so it doesn't blow away).
Unless someone knows of a camera that is just as sturdy, inexpensive, and can do time lapse... I think I have a winner.
Any insight from you time lapse fans would be greatly appreciated.
