Let me expand the question ~ as IE9 is borked when using 500px what is the best browser to have onboard with IE9 to use as needed???

Cheers Loz mate, well I've just spoke to Rich and he's convinced me that parting with £600 is the way to go! SSD and all! flipping POTN! Prob going for this

OCZ Agility 3 120GB 2.5" SATA-III Solid State Hard Drive
Intel Core i7-2600 3.40GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor - Retail
16GB Corsair XMS3 (4x4GB) DDR3 PC3-10666C9 1333MHz 1.5v Quad Channel Kit
IN WIN Dragon Rider Black Full Tower Chassis w/ USB3.0
Gigabyte GA-Z68AP-D3 Intel Z68 (REV B3) Socket 1155 DDR3 PCI-Express Motherboard

Loving the doggy and blue wallpaper Penel, really works well.

Sorry I was not around yesterday to advise on this. Your old system, though still capable, was nearing end of life to my mind. New spec looks plenty good, very similar to what I use except I have only 8Gb RAM. Don't forget you need the 64bit version of Windows for that amount of memory.

As regards your comment about the disks, it's unlikely they will have been affected but, when you start to install, only put the SSD in. This will help avoid any mistakes with where Windows installs and it getting confused by the existing Windows folder/installation. Once the OS is installed (make sure you use the service pack one version as iirc it has better TRIM support), lob in the other disks and they will all get assigned new drive letters. Next you need to move the My Docs, My Pics, My Vids etc folders to one of the HDD's. Again, iirc, you need to right click the folder and drag to the new locaction - easiest done with 2 explorer windows open. Once you have moved the main library folders, you then need to copy the day from the old ones to the new ones. Then you are pretty much done. There is a lot of "advice" on the net about how to prepare a Windows 7 system for using an SSD, most if not all of this was based on the the situation a couple of years back when Win7 did not have all the native support for SSD that it has now. Ignore it.

Its got onboard or I could use my old one. I don't play games on it so don't need a high spec.

All ordered....shame means I cannot now finish my plastering jobs off. Great timing! 300mm F2.8 up for sale next!

Who did you get it from? Novatech have some nice barebone systems right now.

Definately go for the GFX card - onboards are not ideal. CS5 uses grunt from you card for extra firepower. Whilst on the subject, if you use CS5 (I guess this may be tru for LR too), you need to go into preferences to change the default amount of RAM it is allowed to use to take into account your oodles of new RAM :)

TBH we suspect she was dumped in the woodland near our house in the morning ( i heard some cat cries earlier in the day) then she appeared on our driveway later in the day. There are other mitigating circumstances (that i cant talk about) to why she may have been dumped too..... We will give it the usual 7 days (according to cats protection) and then she is ours if no one comes forward. Atleast shes safe, fed and on my sofa rather than scared and trying to avoid the local foxes!

Top man! Anyone who takes in stray animals is a hero in my eyes. Well done fella

Why not try it? It's free, you don't have to set it as your default browser so what's to lose? Personally, I use it as a backup to IE when it won't play nicely with certain sites.

Jonathan, thanks for your insight about Chrome. It does seem to get good reviews so if it is well behaved with IE9 as you say worth a punt & your situation is exactly what I need it for :D

cheers JD, if you were looking at a GFX card for just lightroom and CS5 no gaming what would you choose?

My old GFX is a BFG NVIDIA GEFORCE 9500 GT 1GB, reckon it will do?

ordered from Aria in the end.

AFAIK, Sky used to tie the router MAC address in with the authentication so this may not be an option. Just something to keep in mind if you do have your username/pwd but can't get it to work.

Sky lock the details on to there routers so you can't get them from sky and just add them.. You can Google the correct details that might work, I know there is a way of extracting the setting from the Sky box..
