What happens if you put it back in the caddy ?

I think my usb caddie gone up the spout, hence trying to put in on the server. It was read Ok in the server on the IDE. I will give it another shot.

The data should be recoverable I would think...even after a format? As long as you don't write anything else to it.

There is some software you can get that will recover data from a drive, but you have to buy it.
Some of these caddys play up, so try again

@ Ian ~ could it that the way WHS works it expects any added drives to be blank or ready to be formatted i.e. you cannot by adding via the IDE to the motherboard use an already formatted & populated drive??? Cheap enough to get another caddy to avoid risking any further impact on the data on the drive.

As for recoverability yes AFAIK you should be able to use the likes of Zero Assumption to sacn and check though the recovery action I think is now only on a paid for version, this presupposes that WHS has not started a format method that makes the drive unreadable by 'normal' methods??? Though surely knowing MS that is unlikely

Best of luck with it and I hope you get it sorted AOK :D

That was a great meal ~ you must have a good set of pans :p

This is a good one as it works in DOS and not windows Spinright (external link)

Ian. Most likely the File Allocation Table has been deleted - the data is probably still intact. Download Recuva from www.piriform.com (external link) and try that. If you dont get back what you need, PM me.

That's more aimed at recovering from bad sectors - not simple data recovery which is what Ian needs.

Nice work Lee. I have to work today so no pics from me. It s truck racing at brands on Sunday, so hopefully I'll get something there.

I am up there as well with the wife and a few friends, one of whom I am still grooming to join potn

Jonathan wrote in post #14296772 (external link)

Morning.. Nothing photo related today, just packing my bag ready for the first wedding of the year tomorrow!

I am sure you will both be fine.

bridge99 wrote in post #14296831 (external link)
im shooting a wedding tomorrow as well, I always get a bit anxious about now and wonder why I bother shooting them

I don't think I would shoot one on my own so hats off to you. Especially if you have any traveller ones and need a translator give me a shout.
