Nice, after seeing an accountant and seeing what you can offset and get a tax rebate on a 300 2.8 might be on the cards but it is a lot for one lens

Looking for tea ![]() Any mice down there? ![]() Elegance I'm hoping he hunts here every day.... excellent Penel, cant wait to see more from him, I would say its a him they are normally a bit lighter than the girls with less grey down the back and just about a white tail, so as a male he should be out quite a lot as if he has a ladyfriend who should be about now sitting on eggs then he will be out and about dawn and dusk catching voles, also if he sits on a post it noise that frightens them off, their eyesight is poor during the day so be very quite, they normally sit for a minute or two so no rush when he lands the key is to be very quiet. Great so you've have a barn owl who lives next door which is handy as cuckoos like the same territory and they are about now so I hope you get to see/snap one as well.. cant wait to see more. 1DX II 5DMK3 II 24-70L II 35L II 85L II 100L II 135L II 300L II 70-200L II

I do Box Brownie wrote in post #14304456 @ Ian ~ that 300 is so sharp you could cut yourself ![]() @ Penel ~ what a cracking start to your Norfolk break. What body & lens? On a side note re raptors ,we came home this afternoon to the second pile of feathers in 5 days. Both Collared Doves and maybe juvenilles. Never seen it around but a neighbour said last year he had seen a Sparrowhawk, that time we had feathers also. Just where do Sparrowhawks hangout??? Meant add to this recent pile of feathers is right by our bird feeding station approx 10ft from the patio doors! 7D and 70 - 300L lens. Sparrowhawks hang out all over the place, sounds like it probably is that. we did, totally amazing. think we've stayed here 8 times over 4 yrs and never seen the barn owl before! felt_tip_felon wrote in post #14306934 Great Owls Penel, what a holiday welcome! ![]() Morning folks, a sunny day here which has taken me by surprise, so to make the most of it I'm gonna dash to the seaside and enjoy it... Anyone up to anything fun? have a good time at the seaside Lee. Thanks Mark, v helpful info. I am hoping to just sit outside this eve and wait. Only trouble was that ISO had to be q high as it was dull light and after 6pm - so if it was a brighter evening that would be much better. I had a quick look about 6am (dog woke me up) but nothing around. The post he sat on is about 15 ft from our perimeter wall, so v v close. It would be amazing if he sat there again! will ask our friends if they've heard a cuckoo and will prob go exploring later (without the dogs as they're not that helpful when you're trying to bird watch!).
