Guessed you were by not stating that in the opening details ;)

pardon the pun but too much water has passed under this metaphorical bridge... they had their chance and then had a second chance...

definitely - just is an awkward situation for person B to tell person A where to go...

agreed - in my opinion it reads as if person A has perhaps found themselves a bit short of cash, then after racking their brains remembered a situation that they might be able to leverage... (but I do watch too much TV :D)

Sounds like person B was being quite reasonable to agree to replace the lens after 1 year when person A originally told person B there was no need to replace. To then not replace the lens and 5 years later ask again seems a little rough on person B. If it was me, I wouldn't feel that I could reasonably ask for a replacement after such a long time as I had already been given the opportunity and not taken it - but everybody is different so it's a tricky one.

Edit: Seems like person B has now been unmasked! But my thoughts still stand :)

Honestly I'd say that it's a bit cheeky after five years to ask again. After the first decline and the year had passed and Person A asked again yes I would pay up but after so long it's a bit late.

NOTE: Written before reading which one you were :)

Thanks again guys. Makes me feel better about the oh so delicate email reply I had to send.

Yup. To be honest, if I were single and had loads of disposable income still I'd probably replace it just to maintain the friendship. That's no longer the case however ;)

I hadn't though of that, but I suspect he actually does need the lens. He does architectural work and it was a fisheye,. He did say he needed it to update his portfolio...

Oh well, not much to be done now :)

Well, he lives in the Caribbean still so it's not like he'll turn up at my place in the middle of the night with a bat in hand :)

Just my overactive imagination ;) I suspect if truth be known he knows asking is a long shot, an insurance company would have closed the case on this long ago - so it's a huge long shot on his part...

does he really have a Bat? they don't like long haul flights so you'll be fine! :D

Kev, I think the phrase "Statue barred" is the one your looking for ;)

If you offered to pay upfront at the time then I would say its not your problem anymore. I know if someone broke one of mine I'd want the money right away and if I said I didn't I would consider the matter closed.

Nice shots Lee, the sun is in and out here today.

Kev I'd say your (ex) friend has left it way too late to suddenly ask for replacement lens.

Skylarks were in action again this morning, I didn't have much time to stop though cos we were walking the dogs. They are so not bothered by us walking close - there are pathways cut into the grass and they are nesting in the long grass.
