Last nights game resulted in over a hundred minutes in penalties - and 7 ejections ...

But on a side note - I shot these all at ISO6400 at 1/1000 f3.5 - I think I will have to rethink this format - ISO6400 is just a dash to high for my liking ...

Thanks for looking
Phil

Probably more than a game suspension at this level. what level was this? Midget REP? Or is it C?

As to details, this level of hockey is good to shoot at 1/500 on the shutter or 1/640 so yep drop ISO down and you should be OK.

As to photos, nothing special in them for me and all but #3 would probably have been deleted and on that I would crop only on the two players on the right. And is that a girl?! good for her...I bet the opposing player really did not want to fight her!!

I'm assuming you've heard of the heavy-weight boxing match that got violent, and turned into an ice-hockey game? ;)

Currently just a P&S, but watch this space.

This is midget C (play-offs now)- and (get this) the only person who got 3 game suspension was the girl ... all 110lbs of her! Did the guy want to fight her - that dude went after her and threw the first punch ... the 2 other fights had developed already when the dude went after her - to make it 3 fights running at the same time ... the poor ref and 2 linesmen didn't know what to do - who to pull off who ... the 3rd fight is out of camera sight

ya - the great Canadian game ... got to love it ... and these kids do - believe me - win or lose ... except the only thing that sucks is that sorting all the penalties out eats into playing time!

details - yes, I agree ISO at 6400 kills me - I shot some real good ones at 1600 at 1/500 - acceptable noise ... will zap f/stop as well by a few stops next time.

Thanks for all the comments ...

I was thinking the same thing.

My usual response when questioned about these things is that the kids, at that age, "have more testosterone than brains." However, it doesn't seem to apply in this case...
