A friend of mine wants to put together a few of her wedding pictures in a strip that resembles what you'd get from a photo booth. Is there a PS effect for that, or a seperate program?

Kodak disposable, Ansco 35mm disk, Polaroid my parents gave me. That's about all I need really.

It's not that difficult if you understand layering in Photoshop.

Determine the size of each image and add to it the number of pixels you want between them. For example if you wanted them 200x200 px plus 10 pixel separation. Now how many do you want on the strip and then take this 210 times the number of images on the strip. Say you want 4 then 210x4 gives you 840 on the long side and I would add some more for the top and bottom borders. Width would be 200 plus whatever you want for a border. This is your target document.

You could open each image that you want in the target and resize them and then drag and drop them on the target. Alternately you can use File-Place while having the target file selected and then navigate to the image you want to put in it and select the file. It will open as a smart object and initially it will open with transform handles on the corners and a large X in it. This allows you to resize it on the fly. Hold down shift and drag from a corner to resize in its original proportions or Alt+Shift will do it from the center. When you have it sized and placed hit enter. Redo this for each image to be placed in the target file.

I know I have seen actions that will do things similar to this and you could try a search for film strip and then modify that.

My life is like one big RAW file....way too much post processing needed.

If you have software that can handle resizing and "placing" images onto a "canvas" of a proper size then it's pretty basic, in fact you can do something similar in a basic editor like Microsoft Paint. But you need to be comfortable with working with somewhat complex projects in the image software, and it sounds like you aren't at that level of experience, so I'd say "Just say no" will be the best approach for ya!
