So I have been lurking the forums for a little over a year now, and just recently decided to get a little more serious about photography. Not really too sure as to what kind of photographer i'd ultimately want to become, so as of now i just take pictures of basically anything and everything. Did a couple of headshot/portrait sessions for a couple of people, didn't charge anyone yet, just doing it for the sake of learning. Well here are a couple from one session. Pretty nervous about getting critiqued :o, but please be real, and don't candy coat.

have not attempted to learn photoshop yet(just used PSE to add a watermark),but i am definitely planning to, all my post processing was done with Aperture.

Any suggestions on what i should do differently, tips, any c&c welcome.

Thanks!

You are using short lighting where the main light lights the short side of a face (the side facing away). Useful to help slim down a square or rounded face. But she has a nice oval shape to begin with so it is not needed and is counterproductive. Also the light is too bright and the left side of her face is too bright.
In the 2nd one her raised eyebrow creates unflattering wrinkles on her forehead which could be softened in Photoshop.
Now that you've started posting keep it up and you will get lots of good advice from the folks here.
edit: here is a quick darken & put some red on her lips.
