Welcome to Elements.
There are a ton of resources available to you.

Here are a couple of links to keep you busy for a year or so...;)

Assuming that's the Scott Kelby book, I'd consider it an excellent "starting point" for learning Elements. He has a "dorky" sense of humor, but he does fill his books with excellent hands-on tutorials -- if you succeed in working through that book without being driven off by his "humor" you will have learned a whole lot!

Another useful Elements "primer" is "The Missing Manual" (external link) by Barbara Brundage.

Elements is easy to get "started" in but can be powerful and complex in its overall capabilities, and so I wouldn't hesitate to get both of those books and work your way through each!

There is also an active community dedicated to Elements users called Elements Village (external link). It is associated with a site that offers a subscription for Elements tutorials and resources, and I'd encourage checking it out!

Google "lynda.com free trial" and join up for their 7 day trial period. They have a 2 hour course called "Up and Running with Photoshop Elements 10" and an 11 hour course called "Photoshop Elements 9 Essential Training".

I've taken quite a few of their courses for Adobe and Microsoft titles and have been really happy with them. As a result I've had a paid subscription for the past two years.
