In a word? Expensive. For $5000 with no stabilization, it needs to be f/4 instead of f/4.5. Makes a huge difference.

gets good reviews though.

i saw this and i drooled a little bit

Nice, but I'd still recommend against it. No warranty there. The plus is that you wouldn't have to pay any duties on that import (assuming they mark it correctly).

Here's one that sold months ago:

Here's one that's still available:

I bet you could talk him down. He doesn't seem to be aware that warranties transfer if he hasn't registered it or sent it in for servicing. No harm asking if its been registered already. There's still a few years left on that warranty.

That's the opposite of extreme. That's your standard walkaround. You do know what extreme means, right? :D Unless you're walking around with an 8mm fish, or a 1200mm, you're not extreme :D

Not really. Most wildlife enthusiasts and pros end up sticking lenscoats (camo) on their superteles.

I prefer mine with a lenscoat as well. Camo looks way better than pure white.

Performance is more important than looks...

It is smaller than I thought too. Not as big as my 300 2.8 with the hood.
