How much do you actually move it?

I can't imagine you would want to move it much, or else the POV is going to be messed up as it will be different from one part of the picture to another.

I figured you would just get the camera setup on a tripod and then aim it differently so the POV is the same. Although I guess since you are trying to replicate a wider FOV, that changes things a bit too... I think I'm just confusing myself more. :p

If you take the shots far enough out you begin to lessen the effect of distortion. All you're doing is moving the camera a bit. When you're standing that far just moving it a bit is enough. Lock focus in on your target. Then work your way around taking shots.

Gotcha.

I may have to try this sometime soon...

Yeah it is a pretty fast process. Takes me about 30 seconds to take all the shots. Do it with JPEG (doing this raw would take forever to edit and bog down your computer in PS when merging them). Lock in your white balance (you dont want to correct that on every single shot so auto AB is a no). Then focus lock on your subject and shoot away.

Takes a few tries to see what works best for you in terms of how you shoot around the subject.

Just a fondo training ride. I helped out as a leader so basically i went back to keep slower riders company as they trekked along. I would just do small spurts on hills to keep myself engaged while i stayed with them.

Maybe they'll recognize your effort this year and make you a group leader next year. :p

Maybe but i doubt it. Those leaders really deserve it. They do way more in the cycling community than i will ever do. :(

They have leaders, I know that for sure, and all the group leaders got like $10,000 worth of gear/clothes/bikes...

Nope. Im riding on the C group. They ride between 12-15 MPH. However, since they are the slowest group you get everyone. The group ends up splitting in two. Something i call C1 and C2. The C1 group is the one who can keep the regular pace. The C2 is everyone else who might be really new to road cycling. So one ride leader stays up front with the more fit riders. The other leader stays in the back. The back group actually splits in two as well. So i helped with the quicker group. I know what it is to ride by yourself on hills and it blows. So i kept 4 of them company. They all thanked me later. Felt good to help out :)

But on that note the group leaders have told me i need to be in the B group which rides longer (40 miles vs the 30 im doing and faster). They go 15-18 mph. Im just waiting for it to become warmer and then ill join them. The A group is 19-21. I cant deal with those guys. Those are the pros.

Take it with a grain of salt.

30 minutes before the ride actually started. My garmin is on since i leave my house. Then i wait for the ride to start.

Then another 30 minutes post ride as i chat with everyone. Again my garmin is on all the time.

The real rest stop is only about 10 minutes top.
