So you think the FNH would be a good home protection plus sport gun? I want a .40 cal but i know .9mm is cheaper and if in the event I need to use it for protection it can still be lethal to an intruder

9mm is plenty lethal and has just as much stopping power as the larger handgun calipers. Just make sure you get some good hollow point ammo that has the right penetration stats that you want.

Nope. According to the website I'm still under consideration but that's all I have to go off of.

I use hydra shock hollow points with my 9mm, .40, .45 cal even the .223 for the M4

9 mm was the caliber of choice by NATO and by tge US military for side arms and became defacto cal when police forces started using Glocks, but now many police forces and agencies have moved to .40...as the joke say, why the reknown British SAS use 9 mm pistols, they forget to say that they shoot triple tap.
Even the famous UZI and H&K MP5 machine pistols usedby swats in 9 mm are being replaced with higher velocity ammos.

Even the famous UZI and H&K MP5 machine pistols usedby swats in 9 mm are being replaced with higher velocity ammos.

I've talked to a few people, mainly one of our security guards at work and he does a lot of research in this area. He loads his own ammo, runs ballistic profiles on different setups etc, has a variety of guns and 9mm are his staple. It has plenty of stopping power. Now if you talk to a lot of Military personel they do not like 9mm, for one reason, they had to use FMJ ammo, which flies right through people. So in FMJ the .40 and .45 had a little more oomph behind them and were just fine. However, as a civilian since you can use hollow points, extra weight and velocity can be a downfall if the rounds don't expand properly on impact. Over penetration is a major issue with higher velocity rounds, now good hollow points shouldn't have that problem, but when it comes to ripping out a large chunk of your target, good 9mm hollow points will do just as good of a job as .40 or .45.

Now... there is absolutely nothing wrong with .40 or .45. But 9mm is plenty powerful.
