Does anyone have a repair shop/parts house they can recommend?

I need a new LCD (not the cover, the actual LCD) for my 5D. I have had the part out and loose in my hand and was able to reconstruct the camera so it works exactly the same as it did before I went inside, so I am confident I can do the work, i just need the part. And before anyone asks, I am 100% sure it is the LCD unit that has failed, not a lens or sensor problem.

So, can anyone recommend a source for this part? I am a cheapskate and looking for a way around the inevitable mark-up i have come to expect from Canon - 40 bucks for a plastic lens hood? Thats a mold operation I wish I could bid against.

Anyone?

I answered your other thread, but I think you're up for about $120 unless you can find someone with a failed 30D you can swap the screen from....

some fairly old canon camera stuff, canon lenses, Manfrotto "thingy", 1D MK II converted for IR, and now an M5

I've never messed with it!

But there is a "sticky" about replacing the protective cover which might have some helpful info:

Since you used a descriptive title, the forum has done a mini-search for you. Look at the links at the very bottom left hand corner of this page.

The wrap up- I ordered from canon directly and saved some money over all of the sources that had a part on hand. The part number is now CH9-1110-000 and it fits the 30D and 1D also, the CH9-1090-000 part number is obsolete. With shipping I am paying 118 bucks and it will take about 15 minutes to replace when it gets here. I found an on line parts breakdown, it is located at:

If anyone is interested in replacing their LCD I would be glad to share my experience, just PM me (if I am not banned or gone I will get back to you)
