Can anyone help me out with the ink costs for a PIXMAPro 9000?

What would the out of pocket cost be to replace all the ink cartridges for this printer?

I am going to guess that there is a cheaper source on the internet that my local Big Box Store, so the follow up - where is the best place to order the cartridges?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Edit: Mods - thanks for relocating me to the correct forum!

If you're looking for OEM ink, I usually find that Amazon is competitive. Here's the whole set:

Of course you can buy individual tanks as well according to your needs.

Here's also an analysis of the cost of printing with a Pixma Pro9000 on Red River's website. Of course they would tend to favor printing your own since they sell paper so take that into consideration as you read the analysis:

If you print photos, then Photo Cyan, Cyan, Photo Magenta, Magenta and Yellow are the most used colors. I have yet to need to replace the black, red or green but have replaced the Photo Magenta, Photo Cyan a couple times, and the other three once.

another good source is databazaar.com. i've used them for years with no problems at all--good prices and quick shipping.

It's going to also be driven by what you shoot/print...

With my aviation stuff, I go through the blue hues like a drunken sailor but I maybe change the Red and Green like once a year.

Obviously, if you're doing a lot of B&W, you can guess which cartridge gets changed the most!

Thanks guys - great feedback.

Some background - I have an opportunity to pick up the printer cheap (but with no ink). Just trying to figure out the most cost effective option of either an unused printer (BNIB minus UPC code from trade in), or the option of the cheap printer and then needing to purchase a set of cartridges.

Thanks again for the feedback and links!

Good shooting!

That certainly isn't correct. What kinds of photos? Wallets?

How cheap is cheap?

A full set will run you about $100. If you can get the printer for say $150 it is well worth it. Otherwise, you should be able to find a brand new one with the UPC cut off for $200-250.

Here's a couple that have sold recently:

Pretty sure it's 5x7 and it's not going to be exact for every photo just a general reference. Red River did it's own testing and published similar cost per print at $.02 cheaper.
