So, Scott, how do you really feel about the Smugmug Price Increases? I may keep it as a portfolio and just remove the ability to print so if people want something, I order it from them and sell it to them after the fact at my own price.

It's really too much of a % increase. Do it over a period of time. Yeah it's "10 dollars more a month"...but they don't let you pay for it monthly.....so its somewhat of a big hit...and the people who do the support at SM are pretty clueless.

If I do end up making a switch, it will need to be to a service that will help me port my stuff over. I'm still up in the air, I like the idea of setting my own prices and shutting off printing so people pay me for what they want, then I order what they've ordered..

I'm not happy about the price hike either. You'd think that since they already take a cut out of 18% of your markup, they wouldn't need to get still more from the resellers. Zenfolio sounds pretty good, and I see they have a few solutions for migrating your portfolio as well. Biggest thing I'll be bothered about is the images I've posted here that will be broken links unless I fix them. Photo sharing, not such a big deal, but some of the gear thread posts they really could make a difference.

Well how else are they supposed to pay for those 20,000 free straps there going to replace?

At least they man up to the issue. I'm sure a lot of companies would say deal with it

Smuggy bothers me too. I am very low volume, use them for their ease of use and keep a volume of pictures. I have to rethink this as I now am in the hole for $250 before starting!

LOL ... just this thread and a couple of concert togs I know who were out of town! But we never slowed down and still didn't get all the options in! I did notice that there are too damn many tourists in Boston! There's hardly a place to stand to photograph all the stunning history and architecture!!!

Two long walking tours: Freedom Trail and North End, 7 hour Grayline Tour of Boston, Lexington and Concord, Beantown Trolley tour of the city plus MIT and environs. We hit the subway for two stops and Anna (age 10) was totally freaked out so we just walked back to the hotel ... she hated it when she was 8 months old the last time we were here.

I lived in Marblehead (my people are from New England, arrived in 1629 at Ipswich) for a couple of years with my folks before the service. Worked in Lynn making jet helicopter engines for GE. I really enjoy it but the visits (my wife is still there for a business trip to Raytheon Waltham) are way, way too short to really appreciate all there is to offer.
