Being in the city, i was waiting for a light pole to keel over... i waited for it to happen all night. It was swaying... but never fell over. Oh well. About as much as you could hope for in the city...

^ but that swaying light in the middle of the city would cause the MBTA to delay all their trains for about an hour or so...

Scary part was, I was in Manhattan on Sunday, all day. Left around 5pm... it was getting dark and stormy, hit a bit of traffic leaving, but compared to Saturday, it was a ghost town.

Scarier part is that in the Financial District (where my wife was) there were cars floating in a subterranean basement / garage. Not like in 2 feet of water but like engine down, rear end up..

I did get to play with a 200-400 F/4L IS 1.4x prototype on Saturday though, so that was fun. Also, I'm probably switching all my flashes over to 600EX RTs. Damn you, Syl Arena..

The 600RT's are awesome. I picked up 3. So easy with the RT, though the menus to get everything set up the way you like is a complete nightmare. But it is getting easier with each use.

The only drawback I'd have with 600s at this point would be that I dont have a 2012 body, so I wouldn't have individual group control natively on my 5D2, but I can otherwise still control all the flashes from the back of the camera, right?

I control everything from the master flash on my camera. I'm not sure if you can control from the body. As far as i've seen thusfar, people are controlling it via a master flash or via the ST-E3. Not sure if you are able to control it from the camera body itself... i don't use it that way, nor do i see what the huge advantage would be vs. controlling it directly on the flash itself.

wait, so you can control the groups on the master flash itself? that's fine, I dont mind not being able to do it on the body as long as I have a way of doing it without going around to each flash like a dork.

Yup, you set the on camera flash as the master and the others as the slaves. You go through the menu on the master to control the others.

It's a bit chunky at first, but you get the hang of it...

FWIW, as an alternative you can use YN-622s and have in-body adjustments!

The 600s do in-body adjustments, it's just a matter of controlling the groups of flashes with non 2012 bodies.
