The Big Picture is always an amazing collection of photos. Congrats on getting a photo on it Scott.

Yeah... nothing going on.

I broke down and bought a PCB product... I bought two 64" white PLM's. I need them because they can fit in my light stand bag while traveling. I can't bring softboxes with me, so these were my only substitute. I hate the lack of control with umbrellas, but size/weight restrictions dictate what i can bring. :(

I certainly am. Second half of March sounds good to me. The country isn't that big... you wouldn't need more than a week to see a huge swath of it.

Brendan, Westcott makes some nice softboxes that fold up as umbrellas. I'm trying to find the information on them, I saw a few of them on Sunday as demonstrated by Syl Arena (I bet if you check out his gear section on pixsylated.com they might be linked)

the week prior to March 15th works best for me, (carried over PTO expires on the 15th). If we can get a couple more people to sign up we might be able to start planning.

As for umbrellas I picked up these ones, cheap on the construction but for the amount of times I'll use them they'll do.

I don't really like using convertible umbrellas for bounce. If I want a reflective umbrella, it's got to be silver. Last time I checked, when you're reflecting via a convertible, you're passing through a shoot-through and reflecting off of a black umbrella (and passing back through the shoot-through again)...
