oh man, i love the lighting in that. While the refinery is visually interesting, i feel it takes away from this photograph. Do they run that thing 24x7?

lovely... at first glance it feels like Rome (because of the dome shape), run down exotic medieval Rome!

Yep 24-7...I kept it because it's a important element of the city.

yes it's from one of the refineries..i just don't know the name for the burning thing.

Nope it's fire

Harm wrote in post #15786691 (external link)
flaring.

you burn off excess methane gas, as it is 4:1 (something like that) worse off than CO2 for greenhouse gasses. So you burn it to create, well CO2!

Nathan wrote in post #15786729 (external link)
I think it's more like 20:1, but yeah. But what's that have to do with Scott's question?

pay attention

Harm just likes to feed us useless info :)

Oh, absolutely :D Thread would be boring otherwise, right?

+1 on that, lighting is fantastic. If the refinery runs 24/7, so will the flaring.

So I'm having a hard time deciding on a new monitor. I've been looking at stuff on B&H and Newegg but I'm gunna go check out Micro Centers brand of IPS tonight. It's the same LG panel that everyone else is using in the 27" IPS game.

Well time to look for a summer job now that ski season is starting to wind down. Thought before I start applying to lame bagel shop and ice cream stand positions, why not check to see if I could get a photo-related job. Anyone know the best way to find people/studios looking for assistants, or perhaps anyone looking for help?

I have a job as a wedding filmer, but we only have a few throughout the summer, so I have a bunch of free time as of now that I'd love to do something productive with. Maybe learn a thing or two about studio/fashion/product photography, editing, running a company, etc.

I'm slow. Still don't get it.

Taking photos with a fancy camera does not make me a photographer.

So I picked up the Auria 27" IPS at Micro Center today, so far I'm impressed. I wanna use it for a few days before I can say for sure though.

Scott, what did you do to Lil' Kim while you were over there to get him all fired up?
