It baffles me that people who don't use them for work still buy things like pickup trucks. I mean, if you like them and that's your thing, fine, different strokes for different folks.

But do these people see how much of their money goes into the pump just to get that huge hunk of metal moving gracelessly through the wind? Why bother? I'm a huge fan of efficiency. And that's why i can't bring myself to ever buy a truck of any sort.

Even a minivan to me, is overkill. Yes, they market those cool sliding doors and things like that. Are they useful? Surely. Needed? I'd say not. A station wagon while typically just as uncool, will get the job done.

My boss, software R&D manager, has a Toyota Tundra. Few more guys at work have trucks that size. Some people just enjoy driving that kind of cars.

Yeah F1 cars are certainly amazing, but as you know they don't have access to metals and other materials that are affordable by the masses. And since F1 cars aren't made to deal with DOT type crash tests, they don't need that beefing up.

But that doesn't mean they can't still lose some weight in other areas. I think now that extracting every last drip of gasoline is becoming important to the masses, they are working to really lighten cars up. I think they are doing a good job. I can't wait to see what becomes available in the next 20 years. Should be interesting...

Surely, like i said, different strokes for different folks. But don't they hurt at the gas pump? I heard from a friend that the Tundra in particular gets horrible gas mileage...

Of course the argument is there that people waste money on all sorts of things, why not gasoline also?

Scott those are a great series, loved it and wish there were more.

One thing, the text on the page before the gallery is showing up as a non fixed width font. So some words have a weird spacing on them. Try changing it to fixed width font.
