His car certainly is. Well, mad.

Is he a younger version of you? Pouring money into cars?

Quite possibly. Depends how many times he's been harassed by the police for it. That and how many times he went back to drivers re-ed for tickets.

Nate - the only preventative maintenance type thing people typically send their cameras in for is when you are nearing the shutter limit, they replace the shutter box. Otherwise you shouldn't have to send it in for anything. Are you experiencing any issues?

Stupid me - I was putting my camera onto my tripod and forgot to tighted the plate. So the camera fell and hit the wooden floor. I haven't noticed any issues, aside from one of the screws above the lens mount becoming unscrewed (don't know how that happened). Aside from that, everything seems okay but I wanted to send it in for a check. Did I overreact?

Taking photos with a fancy camera does not make me a photographer.

Ah gotcha. That stinks, well i'd get it looked at. They are pretty reasonable.

On another note, there seems to be a rather large sell off of the 14LII on FM, anyone know why? Are they introducing something new? Or did a new Sigma come to the table?

they realized that 14mm Rokinon is sharper @ 1/5 of the price? :)

Compared critically to Nikon and Canon's 14mm lenses, this Samyang 14mm f/2.8 isn't very sharp, and has hellacious distortion, but for $400, it's the least expensive 14mm ultra-ultrawide lens ever made.

Not that Ken Rockwell is a beacon of photography (As far as i'm concerned at least...) but that comment doesn't bode well for 1/4 the price. Unless you are more concerned with looking at the price than the images. :)

no need to read Ken Rockwell, there's plenty of info about the lens on this forum. I can also bring mine to the next meetup.

Actually, I use FM for lens reviews because it's easy to find and I like the format. But they didn't have a review for that lens that i could find. So i googled it, and luckily for Ken Rockwell - he comes up as one of the first to review this lens. Hence the link.

But all one has to do is do a google search to find that everyone complains about price with the Canon, but the Rokinon people say you need 2-3 copies before/if you get a good one.

I've already spent my money with Canon. If something happens to it, i get it back in 2 days. Different folks, different strokes.

 You know the problems I go through. When I went to drivers re-ed I had a few friends to go with so it wasn't too boring. You know you have a good group of friends if you all have to go to driving school again together haha.

I was looking at the Rokinon line of lenses and they are really appealing if you buy them new so you can return it for a better copy but I would much prefer something with autofocus. I don't always need it but when I do, I do.. I guess.

Ha, at one of the ones i went to, they are going around the room asking everyone why they are there...

The girl next to me says "Well, i was driving along the road and i went to change my CD, ........ and the next minute i found myself inside of a house...." Another guy up in front says - "I ran over a good friend of mine because i was drunk" he starts sobbing....

I'm sitting there wondering what the hell I'm doing there. My issues were nothing on this level...

I've read a min of $200 charge for any sort of work done on the camera body... I don't qualify for CPS, so I don't really know how "reasonable" they'll be. :p
