Went back to Coyote Hills regional park here in the East Bay of NorCal.
I think I am getting better with this combination, but even more importantly I am having a lot of fun!

So first I was on my bike on a trip around the bay view trail when I spotted a Kestrel flying around. By the time I got my camera out, it was pretty far away, but this is the first one I have seen here, so I was pretty excited

As I tried to get closer, he decided not to stick around, sadly...

Rounding the hill back to the marsh side though, I spotted a White-tailed Kite in a tree...
I love their red eyes

Just as I shot this guy, a second landed in the same tree...with lunch!

Great shots. That White tailed kite is my favorite of the set. I am hoping to get a 7D soon, so I can have a more reliable AF.

7D / 70-200 F4L IS / 400 5.6L / 50mm 1.8 / 18-55 Kit / CS5 plus other software.

I'd have to agree w/the above that the 3rd image of the White-tailed Kite in the tree is superb. You also have a very nice capture of the Shoveler too....great stop action. We'll happily entertain any more that you can bring us too!

Thank you very much everyone. This park is over an hours drvie from my house, but it never dissapoints. I have seen a variety of raptors there every time I have gone, and I have always seen at least one Kite hovering over the grass looking for a kill...It's pretty amazing to watch when they dive down for an unsuspecting rodent. Here is one more of the Kite in the tree.
