Hi, last week I got an LG IPS231 as a refurbished. I calibrated it with Eye-One Match 3. However, sometimes the color profile suddenly changes. For example, right after I play a computer game, and sometimes after a software update is being done (when there is a dialog box asking me whether to proceed or not).

I sort of figure out how to fix it, without understanding why, as follows. I may go to display setting, then color management and then choose the send item in the pull-down menu and select the only profile there (the one I created with Eye-One). This can do the trick about 70% of the time. When it doesn't work, I'll have to log out and log in, or to restart the computer. Even if logging in or restarting cannot immediately fix it, I can then always go to display setting to do what I said above.

I contacted LG but the specialist there blamed everything to my computer and refused to answer anything further. I don't understand. I have never had this problem with my previous monitors from Dell or Samsung. There must be something about LG's default setting that causes this.

Anyway, my question is that: even though I most likely can fix the profile every time it goes wrong, I am wondering if there is any way to save me all these hassles. Thanks!

The guy from LG was right, this can't have anything to do with the monitor - it's like blaming your TV if your DVD player keeps ejecting the disc :)
It sounds like something is messing with the graphics card lookup table (that's been known to happen with some games) and not putting things back how they were. What type of graphics card do you have? In the past, ATI cards have had troubles like this as the drivers didn't play nice with a calibrated system. I'd be surprised if this was still the case, though, and I'm really not sure what to suggest :(

I would agree with Graeme. I would check and make sure you are using the lattest driver for your video card and make sure in general that you have windows updates etc up to date.

My computer is not a fancy one. It's just an Acer Aspire 5742-6248 (external link). I checked the adapter and it's called Intel(R) HD Graphics. Windows 7 said that it's the latest. Is there anything I can do?

Oh, by the way, I got into the Intel Graphics and Media Control Panel. Even if I quitted without changing anything, the profile was then changed.

I did a quick search on the internet and it appears that you are having a common known issue with the Intel HD Graphics and a calibrated monitor. There was only one site that gave any possible solution to the problem. I by no means indorse this solution nor recommend making any changes if you are not comfortable with doing so. I am including a link to it for you to review.

Tom, thanks for your info! The procedure it describes is reversible. So, I tried. And it works!
