Hello photographers,

Below are two images I took during a business trip to Las Vegas. The images are also straight out of the camera with no touch ups. Please let me know your thoughts, opinions and tips on improving.

50d, f/10, 25 sec., ISO 100, 10-22 lens @ 12mm

Like the second one a lot, first has a lot of barrel and keystone distortion.

The first one looks soft. The long exposure may have allowed some tripod movement.

Just some opinions:
- These pictures could be more nice immediatly after the sunset because the darkblue sky. The black background is not really nice. Except if there is a starry night.
- The tower on the first picture (and the smaller buildings as well) is very bright (for me). I think shorter exposure time would be better and in this case the buildings could show more details.
Of course I have never been there so I do not know the environment. I just write my opinions (and not critiques).
Anyway both pictures are really nice.

Have a nice lights!

yeah i noticed the distortion, first time using a 10-22. unfortunately i don't own any PP software that can make the necessary corrections.

i think you're right. the tripod may have vibrated a bit since the streets (behind me) were extremely busy and the tripod was far from a sturdy one.

thanks for the inputs!

i wanted to enjoy some photo ops during the sunset but my work schedule made it impossible. your opinions and inputs are much appreciated. thank you.

Just a final note. I went to Vegas too and took the same shots. But I took them hand-held at ISO 2000, 1/25th second at f4 or so, with an IS lens (Canon 24-105mm).

Just pointing out high ISO can give you good results too. Just don't induce noise by increasing levels or exposure etc.

The foreground looks sharper...maybe f/10 wasn't enough?
