Had anyone seen the new Swamp People commercial where there is a woman singing a "sleep" song?

I don't have the intuitive processing experience to see a photo and know how to get a look.

The show "Gold Rush" also has a similarly processed photo of the miner holding a gold nugget.

Finally today I saw another example on 1x photo of the day.

How is this accomplished? Does it have a name? Does anyone have any presets similar to this they like to use?
Here is the 1x photo

No presets. I'm guessing it's a similar to this from one of my shoots from last year.

The idea is to pop out the details as much as possible without over saturating the colors. I did it in photoshop. The key is to use a black and white layer and setting it to multiply. Because you set the layer to multiply you will loose some of the details. The trick is getting the details back in. Now this is done through brightness/contrast and curves layers. You may have to fiddle with the hue/saturation as well.

The point is that it's definitely a good amount of work to pull it off. If there is a preset out there, I'd like to know about it. Then again with presets, they're never perfect.

Here is a good example of the difference the PP i mentioned above give

No b/w multiply layer

and with b/w multiply layer

Of course I did not want to go super harsh on her.

The swamp people look can be done pretty easily with topaz adjust. I forget the name of the preset. but its almost exactly the same effect.

Ratempa - yes - that's the look I'm talking about but simply couldn't describe it - its almost metallic looking to me. Something about it I really like.

Gonzo - is that a RAW preset or Photoshop?

This is kind of a HDR portrait look which many will attribute to Dave Hill. Do a search on Dave Hill effect. He achieves his look with a combination of specific lighting techniques and some PP work. There have been many plugins made to give a similar look. Personally I think his work looks way better than what you can get with plugins and presets. I've seen this look used more and more for ads for TV shows.

ive come pretty close to this look but havnt nailed it yet. in photoshop i do

desaturated layer-hard light blend, this is for contrast
desaturated layer-normal, use just for desaturating
desat layer-overlay - high pass filter set kinda high like 6-7 pixels.

and adjust each layer according.

It's like HDR video. I think it looks very cool and was wondering about it myself. But it is video and not sure how you would get that effect in a video.

I just got a magazine from GNC which is basically one big supplement sales catalog. Amazingly, I'd say 60-70% of the images were processed similar to this. I.probably never would have noticed before.

NLE software has plug-ins just like Photoshop...

Joel Grimes also does his work in this manner using composites with HDR backgrounds.

I checked out topaz, nope that's not it. Topaz seems like a 'cliche' HDR plugin.
