These were taken on Jan 27th at the Breakforth Canada conference. Bands for that night's concert were Jars of Clay and Jeremy Camp.

(1) The singer's face was blown out so I did a B&W conversion, not entirely happy with it but I can live with it.

(2) Didn't want to crop the guitar but as you can see in the bottom left, there is a stage monitor or other instrument in the way.

(3) The guitarist's plaid shirt seemed to complement the light show that was going on.

(4) The original shot wasn't very colourful (he was dressed head to toe in black), so I preferred it in B&W.

(6) I kind of like the green light outlining the crowd.

All were shot with the Magic Drainpipe except (6) where I used the Nifty Fifty. I stayed in one spot for the most part because I didn't want to get in the way of the official photogs. There was also a live camera right in front of the stage that I didn't want to trip over. :)

Not sure if the blacks are right, I don't have a calibrated monitor. Looks a bit dark on a different monitor or two.

Thanks for the feedback guys, it was a big learning experience for me. I never really considered how harsh stage lighting is and I was struggling to expose correctly without blowing highlights. I have some ideas to try out for the next time, though (courtesy other threads here).

I forgot my earplugs so I ditched after a few songs of each set (fail on my part, I know...) but all in all, I had loads of fun! Hope some of the concert shooters on this forum can offer some critique. :)

Thanks for the compliment, what was it about #2 that you didn't like? Guitar crop?

Great job for a first time shooting with stage lighting. Not exactly easy to work with :-)
