Funny, the shadows are the only aspects that I hate about the image, despite spending a lot of time with them! I used a combination of things - the usual copy>fill>transform, but also gradients and playing inside layer styles. For me, shadows remain the most complicated aspect on composites and a nightmare to make them look realistic. This may or may not work for some of your work but occasionally, as a quick starting point, I do a selection of the subject, create a new layer and use the layer's blending drop shadow option. I'm happy 'cause I have a good sense of humor and a short memory ...
