I have been using my left eye, closing my right one, when looking through a viewfinder. Am I the only one? I have seen most photographers use their right eye and close the left eye. It is kind of hard for me to change now. The reason I post the topic is because lately, after shooting about 30 minutes with my left eye while closing my right, my right eye get blurry and it takes about 15 minutes to get back the normal vision. This is after clearing my glasses. Does this happen to anybody?

Doesn't matter if you have them optically equal. Just avoid to use both of them by same time.

This poll is kind of bias...
How about us Live View members that only use it......so I would have to vote BOTH EYES

Im just kidding, I use the left and close the right!

Left, close the right. Though under some circumstances I'll keep my right eye open as well.

I know. I know. When I typed this post I was thinking of those with only one working eye and those that has no good working eyes at all. But I am sorry, it would be too long of a poll. I know, we have to be sensitive to others with special needs.

Couldn't vote because I use both eyes... Sometimes just because. But other times when one gets tired after a long day of shooting, I switch as needed. And, yes, my eyes do get tired 6 or 8 hours into a 10 or 12 hour shooting day!

I also shoot with both eyes open sometimes, and with the non-viewfinder eye closed at other times. Depends upon the situation, lighting, subject and other factors.

For example, when shooting action/sports, I feel it's often best to keep both eyes open to see more than just what's visible in the viewfinder. There might be some action elsewhere that would be nice to refocus on... Plus I've avoided getting run over a few times!

I don't use Live View a lot.

I switch it up. It depends on how my eye feels.
I would agree with amfoto, both eyes open for sports is great so you can see the viewfinder but still keep an eye open for something else.

I shoot with my right eye through the viewfinder and left eye open. I mainly shoot sports and so I have gotten used to tracking the action with the camera and using my peripherals of my left eye to watch the other parts of the game (mainly hockey). This also keeps me from having to let my eyes adjust back after closing one for a long time.

Now if I'm just shooting portraits or landscapes I'll use just one eye open and one eye closed, but for sports, always have both open. Just like aiming a gun, you train yourself which eye to focus through.

I keep both open unless I'm trying to frame very precisely, and I switch between. Keeping the other eye open lets me see whats happening outside of the viewfinder, which I find helpful.

I use the left eye and close the right. Sometimes, I open the right eye.
When the left eye is strained, I use the right eye and close the left :[
