If the 5D3 doesn't pan out...

How would I make a TS-E 24L II or TS-E 17L work on a Nikon mount?

I feel sorry for those poor Nikon schmucks who have to deal with PP on 36MP raw files. WTH are they thinking? I don't think Nikon produces lenses that can resolve 36MP

... Woah. I hope it's just poor or deliberate processing. Cuz that 6400 image really does look like crap.

It's not gonna work. You can always buy the Nikkor 24 PC-E.

I have some Canon lenses that I really like (90 tse, 24 tse ii, 70-200) yet I am really drawn to the idea of lots of mp.

If the 5d3 ends up with 22 and the d800 ends up with 36, and if the d800 does a good job even at lower isos I will be very very tempted to get my toe over to the dark side.

First time I have been tempted to start buying Nikon, although the next months will tell the story. Way too early to even speculate between cameras. Either way I'd keep my 5d2 and canon gear....

Bottom line, I am one of those people that was hoping the 5d3 had a few more mp. Most of the time I don't care about high iso's or fps.

I dont care if one is missing AF completely. Give me a FF with swivel screen and i will buy! Unfortunately there are too many fixed lcd zealots controlling that market. My mother asked why my 5d2 did not have the professional screen of my 60d. I said because it isnt a pro camera. Only a pro sensor. :)

One issue with going Nikon though is that you cant hammer L glass into there like the other way around, correct?

I am still confident we are going to see the 5d line split. Hoping they put a swiveler onto there for video, studio, and landscape guys. Even PJs would benefit from it.

IMO having 36MP is one of the LEAST needed features. For me it is about speed and ISO performance and based on what I have seen so far the D800 will suck on both accounts.

I'm surprised one of these clever vendors doesn't offer a swivel screen mod for these bodies.
