so i have a dilemma,
a few months ago, i purchased a 60D with 17-40mm L for only 900.00!!!

used it for a few months but the L lens was leaving me wanting more, it was not fast enough. well a few days ago i figured let me sell my setup and upgrade bodies to the 7D and get an ok lens (ie. tamron 17-50). i sold the setup for 1275.00 and I now have the 7D which i bought for 1050, almost brand new. all accessories and box, absoutely mint. owner showed me the receipt and he had bought in Nov so he only used for about 3 months.

my dilemma now is that i cant find an affordable lens that i think i will be happy with. my budget left after the body purchase is max 300 for now.

so my question is. should i stay with the 7d body and just suck it up and buy a used affordable lens like the 28-135mm until i can afford a nicer lens; or should i resell the body (i think i could prob sell it for 50 bucks more than what i sold it).....buy a 50D (i am sure i can find it for 600)

and get a nicer lens ie. canon 17-55 f2.8 or the 15-85 IS USM with the 50D

i am torn. i am kinda in love with the 7D right now but how good can it be if i dont pair it with a good lens. i know i can buy a cheapo lens for now and prob sell it for close to what i paid for later when i am ready to buy more expensive glass. i just dont want to deal with these decisions later as oppose to now.

what do you all think.

recap:
sell pristine 7D
get 50D with 17-55 f2.8 or 15-85mm IS USM

or

keep 7D and pair it with 28-135mm IS USM for now
i cannot even find a tamron 2.8 for around 300 anywhere.

my total budget if you were keeping track is around 1300-1350

also...i do not expect to go full frame at anytime in the near future so ef-s lenses are ok with me as my budget wouldnt allow a walkaround L lens.

Where did you look? I found TWO Tamron 28-75 f2.8 for my friends, for less than $300 on POTN market place.

Had you not already purchased, I'd have said 50D and better glass.

Given that you have bought the 7D, keep it, get a budget lens and start saving for better ones. Get off the buy/sell treadmill and go SHOOT :p

what a wheeler/dealer. you've done good. keep the 7D and pair it up with what you can afford now, and start saving.

Keep the 7D, you got an amazing deal. CLP price is $1,087.20 plus local sales tax w/ only 90days warranty(and you have to send in an out of warranty camera).

You saved $37, plus tax and the cost of a old camera and gained approximately 4 months of warranty over a refurbished.

Buy a lens you can afford and upgrade down the road.

Pm you. Thanks everyone. I used to do nightlife a few years back and I hated it but I think imma do it again and use all that money for a lens.

Appreciate the advice

And I tend to be good at negotiating. My last three cars I've sold for more than I paid. Hehe
